MENTOR is Hiring a Communications Manager

At MENTOR in Culture, we are looking for a full-time Communications Manager, based on-site in Athens.

The position is intended for a professional with experience in strategic communication, content creation and editing, digital communication, and monitoring the performance of communication activities. We are looking for someone who can plan, organise, and implement the communication of MENTOR and its projects with consistency, creativity, accuracy, and an understanding of the cultural sector.

The Communications Manager will play an active role in promoting cultural, artistic, research, and European projects, as well as in developing content that highlights the connections between culture and sustainability, participation, social innovation, new technologies, and local communities.

We are looking for someone with strong writing skills, organisational thinking, aesthetic awareness, fluency in Greek and English, and the ability to translate complex ideas, projects, and activities into clear, engaging, and effective content for different audiences and channels.

Responsibilities

The Communications Manager will play an active role in:

  • Planning and implementing the communication strategy of MENTOR and its individual projects.
  • Creating, writing, and editing content in Greek and English for different media and audiences.
  • Writing and editing content for social media, newsletters, the website, press releases, presentations, project updates, announcements, and promotional materials.
  • Developing editorial calendars and content plans for MENTOR and its projects.
  • Managing and developing MENTOR’s social media presence across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other relevant channels.
  • Editing and adapting content according to each platform, audience, and communication objective.
  • Collaborating with the MENTOR team, project managers, artists, researchers, organisations, and external partners to gather information and transform it into communication materials.
  • Supporting the communication of cultural events, conferences, workshops, residencies, participatory activities, and European projects.
  • Planning, creating, and monitoring digital campaigns through Meta Ads and Google Ads.
  • Monitoring key metrics and KPIs for social media, newsletters, the website, and paid campaigns.
  • Preparing concise performance reports with key findings and recommendations for improvement.
  • Using tools such as Meta Business Suite, Google Ads, Google Analytics/GA4, Mailchimp or MailerLite, Canva, and Google Workspace.
  • Conducting basic monitoring and optimisation of content in terms of SEO, readability, and message effectiveness.
  • Ensuring consistency in MENTOR’s tone of voice, visual identity, and overall brand identity across all communication channels.
  • Identifying opportunities for visibility, collaborations, thematic narratives, and communication activities that strengthen the public profile of MENTOR and its projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Communication, Marketing, Journalism, Cultural Management, Humanities, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience in communication roles, content creation, digital marketing, cultural communication, or project communication management.
  • Excellent Greek-language writing, copywriting, and editing skills.
  • Very good command of English at C1–C2 level, with confidence in writing and editing professional content.
  • Ability to adapt tone and content according to the medium, audience, and communication objective.
  • Experience managing social media and creating content for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Experience with or substantial familiarity with Meta Ads and Google Ads.
  • Understanding of key metrics, KPIs, reporting, and the evaluation of communication activities.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines, channels, and projects simultaneously.
  • Aesthetic awareness, attention to detail, and consistency in the quality of final content.
  • Autonomy, responsibility, team spirit, and the ability to collaborate with people from different backgrounds and areas of expertise.
  • Interest in culture, sustainability, participation, social innovation, new technologies, and European projects.
  • Alignment with MENTOR’s philosophy and values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in communications for cultural organisations, festivals, artistic productions, research projects, or European projects.
  • Experience writing press releases, newsletter campaigns, articles, website copy, and social media campaigns.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Mailchimp or MailerLite, Canva, Meta Business Suite, Google Ads, Google Analytics/GA4, Looker Studio, CRM systems, and Google Workspace.
  • Experience with paid digital campaigns, audience targeting, budget monitoring, and performance reporting.
  • Basic knowledge of SEO and web content optimisation.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, photographers, videographers, artists, researchers, or organisations.
  • Understanding of the cultural and creative sector in Greece and/or within the European context.
  • Ability to translate or adapt content from Greek into English and vice versa.
